Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid margins, commonly characterized by a range of symptoms. Red, burning eyelids, eyelids sticking together, and itching of the eyelids are all symptoms commonly associated with this condition.

Red, burning eyelids occur due to inflammation and irritation of the eyelid skin. Eyelids can stick together, especially upon waking, as crusting and debris collect at the lid margins. Itching is also prevalent, as the inflammation can lead to discomfort and an urge to scratch the area.

Photophobia, or sensitivity to light, is not a typical symptom associated with blepharitis. This symptom generally relates more to conditions affecting the cornea or other parts of the eye, rather than issues confined to the eyelids themselves.
